In an effort to revive tourism to popular hotspot Bali, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has announced a tie-up with Wego, the leading online travel platform in MENA.

Bali, a popular tourist destination, is all set to welcome tourists in the new normal. The region boasts of diverse landforms, and has traditionally been a top honeymoon destination and holiday spot for tourists. The city offers a range of tourist delights, from adventure sports to nightclubs.

The Indonesia Tourism Board aims to promote Bali extensively through Wego’s vast MENA user base, with the intention of driving more bookings to the region. The Indonesian government has launched a unique exhibition with the theme ‘It’s Time for Bali’, in an effort to revive tourism after the downturn caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bali offers a visa-on-arrival facility to over 72 countries, including the Middle East with countries like Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. The main intention of easing travel access to Indonesia is to promote tourism and attract vital foreign exchange into the region.

Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director of Wego – MENA and India, said that the company is expanding partnerships to offer users more choice of destinations. He added that the company looked forward to working with the Indonesia Tourism Board, since Bali is a popular destination for travelers from the Middle East.

The Indonesian government has taken steps to inhibit the spread of Covid-19 by maintaining the highest vaccination rates in Bali. The government intends to welcome over 900,000 tourists to Bali by the end of this quarter.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy for Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, said that the Ministry has been aligning its future promotion plans for Bali with digital marketing efforts and innovation in promotion patterns. He further said that the government is adopting new methods to promote tourism, including joint cooperation with strategic partners and by organizing international events in the country. The minister added that the government would concentrate on sports tourism, MICE, international events, and tourism villages.

Bali offers a wide range of diverse experiences

Bali offers a bountiful combination of diverse tourist experiences, ranging from ancient temples and modern bars, to breathtaking landscapes. The island also offers a plethora of affordable and peaceful yoga and healing centres. The population of Bali preserves the culture and unique identity of the island, making Bali the popular tourist destination that it is.

The Ubud market in Indonesia offers tourists an opportunity to purchase handcrafted items made by locals. There is a wide variety for food lovers to explore too, including traditional Padang food like coconut-milk cassava and a wide range of beef, chicken, and rice dishes. For those who wish for a more tranquil setting, the Derawan Islands in Indonesia offer a perfect getaway.

Indonesia is also scheduled to host the international G20 summit in Nusa Dua in November 2022. The European Union and 19 other countries are slated to attend the international summit. The summit will focus on progress post-pandemic, and will span various topics like investment, economy, employment, agriculture, taxes and monetary policies amongst others.
