Today FlexShares (managed by the Northern Trust) announced the release of two developing markets exchange-traded funds (EFTs) that are centric on climate-related enhancements. The Emerging Markets Low Volatility Climate ESG UCITS ETF and the Emerging Markets High Dividend Climate ESG UCITS ETF are FlexShares’ second ETF offerings in Europe.

The head of the Northern Trust Asset Management for MENA and Europe, Marie Dzanis, stated that the firm was ecstatic to facilitate an expansion of the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) product range in Europe. Dzanis believed that investors must be remunerated for the risks they take in all market ecosystems. As the Northern Trust Asset Management perceives growth benefits in new markets, FlexShares’ new-fangled ETF launches are fabricated to exploit development by leveraging the former’s three-decade experience in sustainable investing.

FlexShares associated itself with a financial technology company, Qontigo, to advance the iSTOXX Northern Trust Developed Markets Low Volatility Climate ESG Index and the iSTOXX Northern Trust Emerging Markets High Dividend Climate ESG Index. The aforementioned two indexes behave as benchmarks for the QVFE and the QDFE, respectively.

The ETFs were released today with a listing on the Deutsche Börse and the Euronext exchange. They are available in five European countries – Ireland, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
