Under the bonnet, the Renault Filante is equipped with a hybrid E-Tech powertrain — a synergy of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and dual electric motors.

The French automaker Renault has announced plans to launch the Renault Filante, its newest hybrid SUV, in South Korea in March 2026. This announcement represents a major turning point in the company’s global strategy. This action reflects Renault’s goal to strengthen its position in important international markets, especially in Asia, and highlights the company’s growing partnership with Chinese partner Geely.

The new Filante SUV, a mid-to-large crossover built on Geely’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform-the same adaptable framework that supports a number of high-end models in the automotive industry-is at the centre of this announcement. Renault’s strategic shift to high-growth international markets, where demand for hybrid and electrified vehicles continues to rise, is indicated by the decision to manufacture and market the Filante in South Korea rather than Europe.

Domestic brands like Hyundai and Kia dominate sales and consumer preferences in South Korea’s highly competitive automotive market. However, Renault’s decision to launch the Filante in South Korea shows faith in the model’s ability to appeal to discriminating Korean consumers. The Filante is positioned to compete in the upper echelons of the SUV segment thanks to its unique coupe-like silhouette, advanced hybrid drivetrain, and luxurious interior.

The Filante’s design philosophy combines advanced technology with Renault’s French design heritage to create an SUV that is both sophisticated and practical. The car, which has a striking exterior and a roomy, high-tech cabin, represents Renault’s attempt to improve its reputation internationally and appeal to a clientele that is becoming more and more interested in comfort, connectivity, and sustainability.

Under the bonnet, the Renault Filante is equipped with a hybrid E-Tech powertrain — a synergy of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and dual electric motors. This configuration delivers a combined output of around 250 horsepower and remarkable efficiency for its class, enabling a significant proportion of urban driving in electric mode. Such powertrain sophistication aligns with global trends towards reducing emissions without compromising performance.

Advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies are also integrated into the vehicle’s architecture, which includes a number of systems intended to improve convenience and road safety. Filante strives to satisfy high customer expectations for intelligent and safe driving experiences, from radar-based occupant alert systems to emergency steering assistance.

The Filante, which is produced at Renault’s Busan plant in South Korea, will start shipping to nearby clients in March 2026. Renault’s confidence in South Korea as a crucial sales region and a significant production hub is evident in the production strategy. This is in line with larger initiatives to maximize the effectiveness of global manufacturing while utilizing regional advantages.

After launching in Korea, Renault’s getting ready to bring the Filante to a few Latin American and Gulf countries by early 2027. They’re not rushing-just picking spots where people actually want hybrid SUVs and where Renault wants to stand out more. It’s a focused rollout, not a one-size-fits-all move.

The launch of the Filante is far more than a single-model introduction. It is a tangible expression of Renault’s International Game Plan 2027, a strategic blueprint designed to drive growth outside Europe, particularly in markets with strong hybrid and electrified vehicle demand. Under this plan, Renault will introduce a series of new models across segments C and D to capture profitable opportunities and diversify its global footprint.

The introduction of the Geely-based Filante SUV in South Korea represents an important milestone for Renault’s global mobility ambitions. It reinforces the company’s commitment to hybrid technology, strategic international partnerships and market diversification. With its blend of design, performance and advanced technology, Filante aims to elevate Renault’s brand appeal and competitiveness in one of Asia’s most dynamic automotive markets.
