The migration to Apigee Hybrid was a strategic, large-scale project carried out with zero downtime or impact to customers and partners. This ensured a smooth, uninterrupted service. This upgrade enhances the company’s ability to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing application programming interface (APIs).

UAE, the leading telecom brand of global technology group e&, has announced that it has successfully completed a seamless migration to the Google Apigee API Management platform. This achievement is an important milestone as the company transforms into a digital operator. This move makes the first telecom company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to adopt Google Apigee Hybrid technology, reshaping how the company innovates and monetizes value from its digital services and assets.

Marwan Bin Shakar, Acting Chief Technology and Information Officer at e& UAE, stated the importance of having speed and agility as they continue to scale their digital services across the UAE. He added that successfully adopting Apigee Hybrid is a crucial step toward building the future of connectivity, providing a secure and flexible foundation to accelerate digital transformation and offer a new generation of secure, real-time experiences to customers in the evolving API economy.

Google Apigee Hybrid is one of the key enablers of e&’s digital transformation, greatly reducing time-to-market for new services and fundamentally transforming how the company creates and monetizes its digital offerings. The advanced platform enables the company to build and manage an API access hybrid model that spans both cloud and on-premises systems, offering great flexibility and control while meeting security standards.

Ziad Jammal, General Manager for Google Cloud in the UAE, Levant, and North Africa, praised e&’s adoption of Google Apigee Hybrid, which sets a benchmark for innovation in the telecom industry. He noted that the company is committed to leveraging advanced cloud technology coupled with its strong leadership. It will empower the company to unlock new digital opportunities and deliver greater value for its customers and partners.

This migration shows how a strong platform will support future-proof API strategies and set new standards for telecom companies, paving the way for growth and collaboration in the API economy.

The company is one of the leaders in API monetization, embracing CAMARA, which certifies API with three certified API live on Apigee. It reinforced its role as a digital-first operator committed to offering advanced solutions to its partners and customers.

e& is a global technology group committed to advancing digital futures across markets in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe. The group reported financial performance in 2024 of consolidated income of AED 59.2 billion and net profit of AED 10.8 billion, maintaining its position as a financial leader with strong financial standing and credit rating.

The company was founded 48 years ago in Abu Dhabi. It has grown from a telecom pioneer to a technology leader with a footprint in over 38 countries. It has a portfolio in connectivity, entertainment, streaming, and financial services, AI solutions, cloud computing, ICT, cybersecurity, and IoT.

The company is organised around five pillars: e& UAE, e& international, e& life, e& enterprise, and e& capital, each targeting different customer and market needs. These pillars will help the company to dominate various industries, from telecom to enterprise services, and venture investments. The ongoing strategic investments in AI, IoT, 5G, and cloud technologies continue to help its leadership in the technology landscape, driving smart connectivity and innovation.

The company is dedicated to building a more connected, intelligent future for people, businesses, and communities by continuously innovating, promoting sustainability, and committing to digital transformation.
