Smart Africa Digital Academy to benefit from Ericsson Educate to stimulate Digital Transformation across Africa

Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA)’s project is aimed to encourage digital transformation in Africa among the sectors of education and capacity development to be supported by the collaboration of Smart Africa Secretariat and Ericsson Educate. Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA) promote digital transformation by conducting courses and webinars. SADA also aims to improve the digital literacy of entrepreneurs and citizens as to make them aware and fully benefitted by the emerging digital technologies and innovations. Smart Africa Digital Academy helps in developing fair, inclusive, and viable digital societies in Africa.

This alliance is aimed at improving the digital skills of target groups initially focusing on senior officials from ministers and governing authorities in command of the Information and Communication Technology through Ericsson Educate program. The program will later be extended to other categories like youth, students in diverse study programs, professionals, and educators.

The project aids in improving the administrative departments of each member state with the latest information that assist in boosting their knowledge on evolving digital technologies that eventually helps them to build proficient skill development policies. SADA’s skill development programs that are targeted at specific audience will be benefitted from Ericsson Educate’s programs that are crafted and personalized to promote SADA’s initiatives.

Along with contents curated for the current digital innovations including 5G networks, Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Internet of Things, and Machine learning. Ericsson Educate also introduces live online workshop from technology experts at Ericsson. Smart Africa Digital Academy is a part of Smart Africa Alliance, it would have a wider recognition and far-reaching impact across the African continent.

Director General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smart Africa, Lacina Koné says that Smart Africa is dedicated to connecting digital skill gaps across Africa to guarantee the inclusive digital development of the continent. He further adds that Smart Africa is assured that the Ericsson Educate program will encourage them in accelerating their mission and cultivating an ecosystem of ICT specialized training that will enhance digital proficiency across the member states.

Smart Africa was launched in 2013 by 7 African Heads of the State and is now an association of 32 African countries, international organizations and global private sector players tasked with Africa’s digital plans representing over eight hundred million people and forty private sector organizations. The African Heads of the state’s dedication to hasten the sustainable socio-economic progression in African continent empowers the association’s agendas. This also helps in taking Africa into the knowledgeable economy by providing access to broadband in an inexpensive manner.

Smart Africa Alliance brings together the heads of the states of African Continent who pursue the goal of digitalizing African continent and form a common market with the unified dream of creating a single digital market in the African Continent by 2030.

Through the program initiated, Smart Africa anticipate bringing forward inspiring policies and decision-makers with ample knowledge of the modern digital technologies to make informed decisions that drive the continent in the digital era.

Ericsson Educate has been a private sector member of Smart Africa Alliance since 2016 and through the current collaboration with Smart Africa Digital Academy, Ericsson Educate reiterates its obligation to Africa’s digital inclusion and implementation to initiate digital transformation and education across the continent.
