Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of a virtual playground – Samsung Space Tycoon – created in Roblox, the global Metaverse platform.

Space Tycoon has been created as a virtual space for users to create, play games, and share experiences about Samsung products. The virtual zone also features alien characters from space, with design and functionality cues from the Tycoon genre of business simulation.

The service was created by the company to enable Gen-Z customers to share an interactive, integrated metaverse experience, designed to allow users to create and enjoy their own unique products.

Executive Vice President of the Corporate Design Center at Samsung Electronics, Jinsoo Kim, said that Space Tycoon has been designed to be a virtual playground where customers experience the unlimited possibilities of virtual spaces in the Metaverse.

He further added that the company aimed to give its Gen-Z customers a unique way to experience its products. Kim also said that the company would continue to deliver content that would create entertaining and meaningful experiences for current and future customers.

Samsung Space Tycoon offers three unique areas for users

Space Tycoon is set in the Samsung Space Station, and features three unique play areas – The Mining Zone for procurement of resources, The Shop for purchase of game items, and The Lab for product design and manufacturing. The research laboratory also features alien characters that conduct research on the latest products from the company.

Users can design a wide variety of Samsung products in Space Tycoon, using excavated resources, and these range from smartphones to home appliances. Users can also purchase or upgrade games in the zone. In Space Tycoon, users can unleash their creativity using real-life products and giving them a makeover to be used as in-game gadgets. As an example, the Galaxy Z Flip, the foldable smartphone from Samsung can be turned into a scooter in the game. Similarly, a JetBot vacuum cleaner can be turned into a hoverboard.

At the moment, over 20 Samsung products are available in the Shop, and a new series of products will be regularly updated. Colours of purchased items from the Shop can change randomly depending on the levels achieved in the game.

Space Tycoon is scheduled to launch in 14 languages, including English, Korean, Spanish and Chinese. Additional features slated to be added in future include a platform where users can interact with each other, share creations and attend exclusive virtual parties.

In addition to Space Tycoon, the company will hold exclusive events through its website under a unique #YouMake campaign, where users can colour and collect various Samsung products.
