The Ford Motor Co. is employing the head of Apple Incorporation’s car project from the Macintosh maker. This hiring will bring the 118-year-old Ford an executive with Silicon Valley expertise.

Ford explained in a recent statement, that Doug Field will be joining the automaker as Chief Advanced Technology and Embedded Systems Officer. Doug Field offers great expertise owing to his experience as a proficient engineer at Tesla Incorporation and as Vice President in Apple’s special project group. Field played an essential role in releasing Tesla’s Model 3 sedan as well.

The employment of Doug Field will serve as a major development for Ford Motor Co. The automaker has taken great steps towards strategic growth under Jim Farley, the Chief Executive of the firm, in convincing its investors that the former will facilitate advancement in the company. This advancement will allow Ford to compete with the likes of Tesla and others in the electric technology facet for automobiles.

Apple Inc. has expressed its gratitude towards the contributions made by Doug Field in the company. The firm has gracefully let him go and wishes him well for all his future endeavors. However, the dissolution of Doug Field’s position in Apple will mark a significant setback in Apple’s automotive exertions. The firm’s car project has undergone multiple strategies and leadership replacements since it began to take shape in 2014.

With Field’s employment at the automobile company, it is safe to say that his career has come full circle, as he began his engineering career at Ford. Now, he makes a comeback as an essential player in the company’s goal to facilitate a constant flow of income from arraying services into automobiles through software. The firm’s future is dependent on selling features to car owners to continuously upgrade their cars.

Doug Field exclaimed that Ford was a company with a rich history. He stated that after speaking to other eminent players at the firm, he was convinced that the firm possessed a deep desire to change and embrace novel technologies for the creation of modernized automobiles.

Currently, automakers are seeking to break the shackles of the industry’s limiting niches and facilitating a constant flow of revenue. Keeping this in mind, Ford has started delivering features that are inclusive of a hands-free driving mode on its Mustang Mach-E and F-150. Both cars are electrically powered.
