The first construction package for the Al Nakheel project is in progress and includes earthwork for the roads and the leveling of the land while the second stage will consist of facilitating works for the Crystal Lagoon, infrastructure package, and roads.

Al Nakheel, the Oman-based company has signed a deal with the National Company of Construction Works (NCCW) to develop a construction package for roads and infrastructure of the Al Nakheel ITC (Integrated Tourism Complex) project. The project comes around an approximate value of $650 million and is being developed by Alargan Towell Investment Company.

The tourism complex is spread around 500,000 square meters in Al Rumais in the Wilayat of Barka in proximity to the Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve and is currently being developed by Alargan Towell Investment Co. The agreement was signed by Wissam Al Aani, Executive Representative of NCCW, and Mohammed Moosa Al Abri, the Chief Executive Officer of Al Nakheel.

Falling in line with the government’s Vision 2040, the Al Nakheel Integrated Tourism Complex project is a proposal by Oman to bolster the tourism sector in the nation. The signing covers the construction package for the roads supporting the works of the project starching almost a kilometer of waterfront facing the Sea of Oman.

Advancing Tourism Sector

Oman’s tourism sector, with the aid of the government, is rapidly expanding. Al Nakheel aims to boost the tourism sector in Oman and thereby create job opportunities. The new project will bring Oman’s developmental goals to new heights with the creation of affordable community living that will promote urban development in the region. A unique water body, Crystal Lagoon, covering an area of 51,000 sq m will be the heart of the development.

The project will also develop lakefront and seafront hotels along with the construction of townhouses, penthouses, apartments, and villas. The construction of educational institutions, recreational areas, malls, restaurants, aqua parks, etc. are under the agenda of the project. “The signing reflects our commitment to develop the Al Nakheel project and to present new concepts to buyers, investors and tourists, citizens, and residents, to support the Government’s endeavors toward achieving Oman Vision 2040,” stated Mohammed Moosa Al Abri.

Al Nakheel ITC is well known for its pristine location and unique combination of facilities that create a unique marketing mix to accommodate the wider Omani and foreign markets. The project is expected to offer to the GCC, foreign investors, the fast-growing Omani population, and holidaymakers through its offering of hospitability, residential, and retail components.

Wissam Al Aani states that the Al Nakheel project will be one of the most prominent tourism and real estate projects in the region. “The development of the project will empower the growth of Oman’s tourism and real estate sector and deliver a positive impact on the national economy,” says Wissam Al Aani, Executive Representative of NCCW.

The number of visitors arriving in Oman reached 2 million by the end of November 2022 amid attempts to diversify its economy. This also depicts strong growth in the region’s tourism sector, according to the data from the National Center for Statistics and Information. According to the data collected, the citizens from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries were among the top nationalities who visited Oman, followed by Yemeni, Pakistani, Indian, and German nationals.

The reports released by NCSI suggested that Oman’s Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, also known as the Green Mountain, attracted more than 200,000 people in 2022.
