The golf legend and one of the PGA’s hottest young stars at the moment are teaming up to create a luxury golfing community in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas reveal luxury golf community in Florida
With decades in age separating them, Hall of fame golfer Jack Nicklaus, 82-, and 28-year-old PGA star Justin Thomas participated in a ground-breaking ceremony on Tuesday at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens.
The two personalities are designing a community of high-end estates surrounded by a championship golf course that is due to open in late 2023. After a gap of nearly 20 years, Panther National will be the first new golf course in the area.
Jack Nicklaus stated that it was wonderful to open a golf resort in Florida, mentioning that Panther National will make the most of the natural resources available there.
The community will be spread across 400 acres, surrounded by a 2,400-acre conservation area. Surrounding the 18-hole course will be 218 private estates. Properties will range in size from 4,700 square feet to nearly 10,000 square feet. Each estate will cost $3.5 million to $12 million depending on its size and amenities provided.
The establishment offers refundable deposits to all customers, and to date has 125 reservations for the estates.
Panther National will be Thomas’ first golf course design project. He said will try to learn as much as he can from Nicklaus, the legend. Thomas also said that he was fascinated with course architecture, and intends to learn as much as he possibly can from Nicklaus, one of the best in the game.
In an effort to create an eco-friendly community, Panther National has partnered with Tesla Energy to provide power wall backup systems within the estates, allowing each owner the option to install green features in their individual homes. 3-car garages, electric vehicle charging points, a private pool and an outdoor kitchen are just some of the amenities offered at Panther National.
Nicklaus stated that the objective of creating Panther National was to offer something different, special and interesting that will attract people to the community.
Nicklaus and Thomas marked their collaboration with their first-ever joint course design.
Through his company Nicklaus Designs, Nicklaus has helped design over 420 golf courses worldwide.
With the creation of Panther National, the two personalities also addressed the growing threat of a Saudi golf league that has resurfaced as a hot topic recently. The new Saudi league is attempting to attract famous PGA players with promises of bigger prize money and guaranteed rewards.
