Striving to bolster the future of fashion, the Aggie Fashion Club at New Mexico State University (NMSU) established a collaboration with the National Retail Federation (NRF) in 2021. This endeavor is dubbed to extend its platform for fashion students. NRF is a retail trade entity that facilitates people with opportunities to get in touch with eminent fashion retail enterprises.
NSMU’s Aggie Fashion Club to partner with NRF
Co-advisor of Aggie Fashion Club, Kelley Coffeen, stated that the collaboration with the National Retail Federation will deliver access to the fashion industry for the students. This accessibility will be facilitated in areas like accounting, merchandising, and supply management to name a few.
Coffeen stated that the collaboration will give NMSU students to get into touch with eminent fashion retail enterprises like Nordstrom, Petco., Home Depot, and Macy’s. It will also allow students to tap into several retail organizations throughout the United States of America. Coffeen stated that the interconnectedness of the fashion industry allows non-fashion major students to incorporate themselves into these firms. According to Coffeen, merely a passion for fashion suffices to bring the pot to brew.
Senior at NMSU, Lara Alvarez, was appointed to be the foremost NRF ambassador at the New Mexico State University. Alvarez is finishing her degree in fashion merchandising and design, and minors in business administration and marketing. Being nominated for this role, Alvarez stated that it was her duty to motivate students to participate in the organization and get involved in seeking job and internship opportunities via NRF.
Members of the Aggie Fashion Club stated that the organization has been maturing through the years. Their goal was to accomplish renewed levels of engagement.
Aggie Fashion Club is brainstorming to congregate a fundraiser and a fashion show in early April 2022.
