In a statement, Finnish telecom Nokia said it has been selected by #Proximus Luxemburg in a 7-year deal to provide 5G coverage across the country.
According to the deal, Nokia will be supplying its AirScale Single RAN (#S-RAN) portfolio, along with AirScale base stations, Nokia AirScale radio access products, and 5G RAN for indoor and outdoor coverage.
Earlier in October, #Nokia had bagged contracts from Proximus and Orange to build 5G networks in Belgium, replacing China’s Huawei. The new deal will enable Proximus to deliver connectivity and capacity benefits to its existing customers and build on its existing network leadership. This will significantly increase cost efficiency and lower complexity.
Additionally, Nokia Software’s NetAct network management solution will work with Proximus Luxembourg’s networks for security management.
President of Mobile Networks at Nokia, Tommi Uitto expressed his delight in extending Nokia’s ties with long-term partner Proximus Luxembourg. The companies will work in close association to accelerate the digitization of Luxembourg with the aid of #5G connectivity and proper infrastructure.
Proximus Luxembourg has a spectrum in the 700Mhz band for low-latency communication alongside 3.5Ghz band for dense urban coverage.
